'16 Chevy Volt: Highway vs Local Driving

After the last post, I realized something that may be useful for people: highway driving takes more energy. Over the past month, I've been tracking the differences between how much energy is used between the two. If you drive on local roads, you can expect to get significantly more range than on highway.

Here's the data given that the average temperature was 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

HighwayLocal Roads
Average Speed (mph)6539
Average Distance (miles)11.369.87
Average Efficiency (miles/kwh)3.945.62

90th Percentile (miles/kwh)3.685.29
Average Estimated Range (miles)55.1678.68
